The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest Far Cry game that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for delighting in chaos and madness with similar enthusiasm, all while telling engaging, socially charged tales. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two producers whose work have embodied all of those elements.

What to Expect

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game series, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' structure by introducing a new setting and ensemble in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team constantly supports me with their constant trust and backing.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a story,” said Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the essence of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m eager to work with Rob and present our shared bold, daring approach to the television.”

A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
