The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by instructing children that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I expect a walkout by educators soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to these assertions, the head of a major education union dismissed the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“Farage has built his political career on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

However, Farage’s remarks suggested the party would overhaul the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.

Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He said organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
